Biography
Lisa joined the Salford Housing and Urban Studies Unit as a researcher in July 2006. Prior to joining the Unit, Lisa worked as a research officer for the University of Leeds where she was also Managing Editor of the journal Social Politics, and Lancaster University Management School (LUMS).
Research Experience
Lisa has expertise in qualitative research methods and extensive experience of fieldwork for externally funded research projects, in particular working with socially excluded and ‘hard to engage’ communities. She has worked on studies for local government, central government and regional assemblies, leading a number of studies with Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities. Over the last three years, Lisa has carried out ten studies across the UK focusing on the needs and experiences Central and Eastern European (CEE) migrant workers. She is currently co-investigator on a European Commission funded project looking at the treatment of Roma communities across six EU countries, and a JRF project looking at the link between immigration policy and forced labour. She is also a member of Europia – The Greater Manchester Forum for European Migrants.
